Neighbours

It happened a few months ago I went across the road to my neighbours and offered them Miss 11's play kitchen.  We had spoken to them both before but more so to the husband than to the wife.  Since that day we have been slowly chatting more and visiting each other for cups of tea.  It really is lovely having a neighbour that you have something in common with and who is nice to chat with.  Our neighbour loves her chickens and has an incubator of her own.  Recently she brought home two new little chicks which she hatched at her daughter's daycare centre.  Last week Miss 11 and I went over for a visit and got to hold the sweet little chicks.  They were sooo cute and what's even cuter is
Miss 11 got to name them.  They are called Ivy and Ellory.  Do you have neighbours that you enjoy visiting and having a chat too?

  2. It was very very sweet to let your daughter name the chicks. You need to know your neighbours when you live in the bush. Situations like when your car battery is dead, pick up a neighbour's child from school or sport when one parent is too far out of town and is running back late. People will share their harvesting and cooking when they have too much. One time my hubby drove a child to the nearest hospital, 1 hour a way, when a boy broke his arm and the mother needed to sit in the back with him. Unfortunately even in very sad times like a tragic death. You may not social with these people regularly but when you need help people will be there for you because we are in the Snowy Mountains away from everything. Thank you for making me think of this and be grateful. So often I think of all the wrong things in this area.

  3. How cute...lovely photos...we are lucky to have such lovely neighbours as well and I pop over for a coffee and we are always borrowing stuff.......the other day she came for baking powder...last time I went over for some milk (2 tablespoons) for a recipe I was in the middle of and ran out...it's always baking stuff we help each other out and her kids play with my kids in the driveway on their bikes, drawing with chalk etc.

  7. How lovely your daughter got to name them. I love the names she chose! And how nice to have a friend close by now... how long have they been living there? Most of the neighbours in our suburb are retirees. There are a few younger families down the street but we don't know them. It must be nice having a friend nearby xx
